New York, New York!

We spent New Years 2013 in New York and the most amazing time eating and walking and eating and walking (repeat for 5 days)...

Saw the whole world from the Top of the Rock, saw someone propose with a massive rock (appropriate location I guess..). We walked through Central Park and it started snowing as if we were actually in a film. Visited New York Public Library and shopped (..and shopped, and shopped - it's NY after all!). We did go to the 9/11 Memorial too but didn't love it. It was freezing and windy and they make you queue outside forever, the commercialised tourist trap that it has become doesn't seem fitting somehow...

Ground Zero, the non-tourist-trap part

Crazy busy Times Square

J had done major research on places to eat and boy done good! We had burgers at Shakeshack by the Flat Iron building, and more burgers at the hidden burger joint in Le Parker Meridien Hotel (SO strange, you queue in this little corner of the hotel and then behind a red velvet curtain is the pokey little room which is dark and covered in scribbled words written by anyone and everyone. Yum food and even better atmosphere). I had my first ever steak at the Striphouse (and LIKED it..!). Macaroons and coffee at the Bouchon Bakery near Rockefeller were also devoured.

Shakeshack near the Flat Iron building - AND they are opening
one in Covent Garden, London soon too so the burger and milkshake goodness can continue this side of the pond!

Blackberry and lemon macaroon in Bouchon Bakery - so good!

Inside the very cool Hidden Burger Joint

We got lost in Macy's, loved Grand Central and the food market underground and got lost in childhood heaven in Dylan's Candy Bar! We completely fell in love with New York and still have buckets to see and do if when we next go whichwillhopefullybereallysoonbutrealisticallynotbeforages.

I don't think these needs ANY words...

New York in a photo..?
